Chili, beer mile and live music: Your guide to the 2023 Fall Fest & Chili Classic – MLive.com

JACKSON, MI – It’s that time of year again to taste test some chili and celebrate the fall season with the 2023 K105.3 Fall Fest & Chili Classic.
The third-annual chili cookoff event is noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in downtown Jackson. Admission is free. Here’s what else you need to know about the 2023 Fall Fest & Chili Classic:
Chili tasting
While the event starts at noon, chili tasting doesn’t begin until 2 p.m.
Wristbands, which allow patrons unlimited tastings for chili and salsa, will be available for purchase on-site for $5 each. Also included are tickets to vote for your favorite competitor.
The chili cookoff winners will be announced at 4 p.m. on the Harvest Solar stage, located on the corner of Mechanic Street and W. Michigan Ave.
ORS Oktoberfest Run and Grand River Brewery Beer Mile
A 5K run and walk, a 10K run and a kids run, presented by Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, is being offered prior to the event.
Races are expected to start between 9 to 10 a.m. Registration is $40 for the 5K and 10K races and $5 for the kids run and can be made here.
All 10K and 5K participants will receive post-race breakfast at Grand River Brewery.
People can also stick around to watch the 5th-annual Grand River Brewery 313 Polish Lager Beer Mile at 11 a.m. Registration is $35 and can be made on the events website.
Participants must be at least 21 years old to enter and have a designated driver.
Live music and other entertainment
You’ll also fine live music, vendors and kids’ activities at the event.
Entertainment is scheduled to take place throughout the event on two separate stages. The stages, Monster Motors stage and Harvest Solar stage, are at Bucky Harris Park and the corner of Mechanic Street and W. Michigan Ave.
The performers are:
Noon to 1 p.m. – Kari Holmes at the Monster Motors stage
1-2 p.m. – Big L & Code Blu at the Harvest Solar stage
2-3 p.m. – Kay Harper and Cezaar Wade at the Monster Motors stage
3-4 p.m. – Jacktown Hustlers at Harvest Solar stage
4-5 p.m. – Sadie Bass on the Monster Motors stage
5-6 p.m. – Kung Fu Diesel at the Harvest Solar stage
The Kids’ Kingdom, located in Horace Blackman Park, opens at noon and closes at 4 p.m. This is free to the public.
Vendors will also be on site along the corner of N. Jackson Street and W. Michigan Avenue.
Social district
Downtown Jackson’s social district is available to patrons for this year’s event. Residents are encouraged to purchase a beverage and roam the event from the participating restaurants.
