The North Bullitt HOSA club will host a Izzybee Walk-a-thon on Saturday, Sept. 23.
This is a project to raise money for childhood cancer research in honor of Isabelle Coy, a North Bullitt student who lost her life to cancer last year.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the walk to begin at 9 a.m.
The goal is for teams to raise funds for the walk-a-thon. Look on the school’s website for registration information or contact any HOSA member.

EMA sponsors blood drive
Bullitt County Emergency Management will host a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 13, from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at 238 Salt Well Road at the Bullitt County Emergency Operations Center.
Kona Ice will be set up in the parking lot and donors will receive a free Red Cross T-shirt.

Mount Washington UMC Vacation Bible Sundays
On the third Sunday of the month, through November, Mount Washington United Methodist Church will host Vacation Bible classes.

Women’s Club/DARE chili supper
Once again this year, the Bullitt County Women’s Club will host its annual Chili Supper to raise funds for the Bullitt County Sheriff’s DARE program.
The chili supper will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the First Baptist Church in Shepherdsville from 5-8 p.m.
The dinner is $7, which includes chili, hot dog, chips and drink.
Raffle tickets will be available for the purchase of various donated items from the community partners.

Jeep, Car Show for new Christian Academy
Cedar Grove Christian Academy will host a Jeep and Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Fill the Buss for Hillview pantry
The Hillview Boxes of Love is desperately in need of food items to refill its pantry.
The pantry feeds about 600 families each month.
There will be a bus from Sept. 5-15 at the Hillview Government Center from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
After Sept. 15, there will be a collection box at the government center on Crestwood Lane.
The goal is to fill the bus.

Waste tire collection Sept. 28-30
One of the more popular programs sponsored by Bullitt County Waste and Bullitt County Fiscal Court is the tire collection event.
This year, in partnership with the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, the free event will be held Sept. 28-30 at the Kart Country rear parking area in Shepherdsville.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and again from 8 a.m. until Noon on Saturday.
This is open to all Kentucky residents.
Tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards and recycle businesses are prohibited from participating.

Gala to benefit CASA

Nichols PTA Carnival, Car Show
The Nichols Elementary PTA will host a car show/carnival on Saturday, Sept. 9, from Noon until 4 p.m.

Cooking Matters class to be held
The Bullitt County Health Department is offering a new six-week class open to the community.
Cooking Matters is designed to give you basic information on how to prepare healthy recipes for you and your family.
Classes meet at the health department on Wednesdays, Oct. 11-Nov. 15. It will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
You must be able to attend at least five of the six lessons to participate. Only 16 people can participate.
The class is open only for WIC participants or part of the HANDS families.

The annual Farmers Market in Mount Washington is open for business.
The Saturday markets will run through Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. until Noon.
