The North Bullitt HOSA club will host a Izzybee Walk-a-thon on Saturday, Sept. 23.
This is a project to raise money for childhood cancer research in honor of Isabelle Coy, a North Bullitt student who lost her life to cancer last year.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the walk to begin at 9 a.m.
The goal is for teams to raise funds for the walk-a-thon. Look on the school’s website for registration information or contact any HOSA member.
Tutoring/homework assistance
If you know of a youngster who would benefit from tutoring or supervised homework assistance, encourage parents or guardians to call Mount Washington United Methodist Church at 538-6756, and leave a message with the student’s name, school, grade, teacher and subject needing attention.
The parent/guardian will be contacted to arrange an appointment for the student.
Extension Board to meet Sept. 20
The Bullitt County Extension Board will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m.
The meeting will be at the Bullitt County Extension Service on Halls Lane in Shepherdsville.

EMA sponsors blood drive
Bullitt County Emergency Management will host a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 13, from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at 238 Salt Well Road at the Bullitt County Emergency Operations Center.
Kona Ice will be set up in the parking lot and donors will receive a free Red Cross T-shirt.
A representative of the Red Cross will make a presentation at the Oct. 3 fiscal court meeting and donors can register at that time. To make an appointment to register, go to the Bullitt County Emergency Management Facebook page for more information.
Extension Board to meet Sept. 20
The Bullitt County Extension Board will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m.
The meeting will be at the Extension Office on Halls Lane. The public is invited to attend.
Mount Washington UMC Vacation Bible Sundays
On the third Sunday of the month, through November, Mount Washington United Methodist Church will host Vacation Bible classes.
The classes for youngsters Kindergarten through fifth grade will run from 1-3 p.m. There will be music, Bible lessons, games and snacks.

Blood drive at Mount Washington UMC
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Mount Washington United Methodist Church.
The blood drive will run from 1-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Women’s Club/DARE chili supper
Once again this year, the Bullitt County Women’s Club will host its annual Chili Supper to raise funds for the Bullitt County Sheriff’s DARE program.
The chili supper will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the First Baptist Church in Shepherdsville from 5-8 p.m.
The dinner is $7, which includes chili, hot dog, chips and drink.
Raffle tickets will be available for the purchase of various donated items from the community partners.
The will once again be held during the Bullitt Central Homecoming Parade in downtown Shepherdsville.

Sunnyside to host homecoming
Sunnyside Baptist Church will host homecoming services on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Dennis Wingate will bring the 11 a.m. worship message. A fellowship meal will follow.

Jeep, Car Show for new Christian Academy
Cedar Grove Christian Academy will host a Jeep and Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
It will be held at the Cedar Grove Christian Academy, 4900 Cedar Grove Road, outside Shepherdsville.
Entry fee for a car will be $10. There will be live music and food.
All proceeds will be used to support the new Christian academy.

Fill the Buss for Hillview pantry
The Hillview Boxes of Love is desperately in need of food items to refill its pantry.
The pantry feeds about 600 families each month.
There will be a bus from Sept. 5-15 at the Hillview Government Center from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
After Sept. 15, there will be a collection box at the government center on Crestwood Lane.
The goal is to fill the bus.
Sunnyside hosts fall festival
Sunnyside Baptist Church will host a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 1-3 p.m.
there will be music by Cull Hollow. Free food, cake walks and games for all ages. Plus, lots of great fellowship.

Southern Hills to h most holiday craft fair
Southern Hills Church of the Nazarene will host its annual Holiday Arts and Craft Festival on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

There will also be a Candy Grab on Oct. 31.

The St. Aloysius Catholic Women’s Club will host a fall craft bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Bullitt County Community Baby Shower
The Community Baby Shower will be on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, Shepherdsville, from 5:30-8 p.m.
The Community Baby Shower for pregnant women or mothers of babies 12 months of age or younger who are residents of Bullitt County.
The mother/mothers-to-be will have the opportunity to walk through the display area from 5:30-6:30 p.m. before the program begins. From 6:35-8 p.m., we will have an open panel discussion group with baby professionals. You will be able to ask questions and share any concerns. We will serve cupcakes, punch, finger food and draw door prizes.

The Bullitt County Health Department is offering a new class open to the community. Nuts and Bolts of Diabetes is designed to give you basic information about diabetes.
It is not meant to take the place of diabetes self-management education or meeting with your health care team.

Waste tire collection Sept. 28-30
One of the more popular programs sponsored by Bullitt County Waste and Bullitt County Fiscal Court is the tire collection event.
This year, in partnership with the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, the free event will be held Sept. 28-30 at the Kart Country rear parking area in Shepherdsville.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and again from 8 a.m. until Noon on Saturday.
This is open to all Kentucky residents.
Tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards and recycle businesses are prohibited from participating.

Gala to benefit CASA
The Felts Family Foundation will present the Great Gatsby Gala on Friday, Sept. 22, at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.
Everyone is invited to enjoy this evening of the Roaring 20s. Walk the red carpet and 1920s attire is strongly encouraged.
The buffet dinner and entertainment will benefit the CASA program of the River Region.

GriefShare recovery seminar and support group meets at Bullitt Lick Baptist Church.
The current session will continue each Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. through the end of September.

Nichols PTA Carnival, Car Show
The Nichols Elementary PTA will host a car show/carnival on Saturday, Sept. 9, from Noon until 4 p.m.
There will be a car show with prizes and awards. Registration is $20 per vehicle and registration opens at 11 a.m.
There will be food, music, games and prizes. This is a partnership between the PTA and the Bullitt County Public Library System.

Cooking Matters class to be held
The Bullitt County Health Department is offering a new six-week class open to the community.
Cooking Matters is designed to give you basic information on how to prepare healthy recipes for you and your family.
Classes meet at the health department on Wednesdays, Oct. 11-Nov. 15. It will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
You must be able to attend at least five of the six lessons to participate. Only 16 people can participate.
The class is open only for WIC participants or part of the HANDS families.

Bullitt County’s Family Fest!
Family Fest is a FREE event that promotes the importance of the family being physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally fit. Increasing your physical activity can improve health, lower stress, and even improve social relations for all ages.
Spending time together with our families also plays a role in our overall health. It will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the All Inclusive Playground & Gym in Hillview from 9-11:30 a.m.

The Dare to Care program in Lebanon Junction provides food on the third Monday of each month at 10 a.m.
To sign up for a food box, go to the St. Benedict parking lot. This is a new procedure to assist with traffic flow and safety in the area.

Mount Washington Farmers Market
The annual Farmers Market in Mount Washington is open for business.
The Saturday markets will run through Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. until Noon.
On Wednesdays, running through Sept. 6, the market will be open from 4-7 p.m.
And from 4:15-5:45 p.m. each Wednesday, there will be Art @ The Market. In a partnership with the local branch library, free art classes will be held under the gazebo each week.
All the activities will be in the pavilion off Old Bardstown Road between the First Baptist Church and the library.
Shepherdsville Farmers Market
The Shepherdsville Farmers Market will be held each Saturday through Sept. 23.
Vendors will be at the market from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The Shepherdsville Police will be at the market on Sept. 9.
Live music will be presented on Sept. 16, as well as the Bullitt County Health Department.
The farmers market is located on Joe B. Hall Avenue just west of South Buckman Street.

Walk with Mayor Jose Cubero on Saturday, Oct. 14, starting at 9 a.m.
This walk will be brightened up at four Color Stations along the route.

Halloween event to benefit kids
K.Laree’s Halloween Spooktacular will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.
Costumes are highly recommended.
The event will be held from 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $50 with proceeds going to the Bullitt Central Youth Services Center and the principal’s lunch account.

Hillview Church Dare to Care
The Hillview Community Christian Church food pantry and Dare to Care program will be held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
It will be open from 5-6 p.m.
The drive-thru food pantry will be located at the City of Hillview Annex Building at 1191 Hillview Boulevard.
Only those in Hillview, Pioneer Village and Brooks are eligible for this site.
Anyone who would like to help, canned goods are desperately needed. They can be dropped off at the Hillview Government Center.
First Nazarene Dare to Care
Shepherdsville First Church of the Nazarene is hosting a Dare to Care food distribution every Tuesday.
The drive-thru food bank will be at the old Melton Food Mart every Tuesday from 5-6 p.m.
Bring something with your address and a photo ID to receive assistance.
This is for the 40165 and 40177 zip codes only. Bring boxes, bags or other containers to carry your food.
The drive-thru pickup is located on North Maple Street off Highway 44 East in Shepherdsville.
Turnaround Center activities
The Turnaround Pantry will be open at the main location on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
Food boxes are available at 12:30 p.m.
The center is located at 11980 S. Preston Highway in Lebanon Junction.
Every Monday, Thursday and Friday at Noon, there is a hot meal provided at the Turnaround Center 2 Kitchen at 191 S. Poplar Street in Lebanon Junction.
Produce is also available.
And the Turnaround Market, located at 11491 S. Preston Highway in Lebanon Junction, is open by appointment only.

MW Lions Club fish fry Fridays
The Mount Washington Lions Club will host a fish fry on the second Friday of each month. The next one will be on Friday, Sept. 8.
The fish will start frying at 4 p.m. and goes until everything is sold, which is normally 5:30-6 p.m.
Everyone is invited. The fish fry will be at 810 N. Bardstown Road in Mount Washington.
Proceeds help to benefit projects in the community.
Bluegrass music in Hillview
The Hillview Government Center is again hosting Bluegrass Music and fish fry each Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The public is invited to the free singing and the chance to purchase fish dinners.

Masonic Lodge breakfast Sept. 2
Bullitt Masonic Lodge 155 all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2.
From 7-10 a.m., the public is invited to breakfast. The buffet cost is $9 a person.
The breakfast will be held the first Saturday of each month.The next will be on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Bullitt County GOP will meet on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Shepherdsville Government Center.
The Republican Party meets on the first Thursday of each month in January.

The Bullitt Central Youth Services Center has a food pantry available to families in all Bullitt Central feeder schools. It will not be open while school is out.

Hillview CERT seeks volunteers
Are you looking for a way to make a difference in your community?
Join the Hillview Community Emergency Response Team.
Training is provided. You must be at least 18 to join the team. However, those 15-17 can join the junior program.
Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the community center at 298 Prairie Drive.

McNeil Lodge hosts breakfast
McNeil Lodge 586 hosts its all-you-can-eat breakfast on the second Saturday of each month.

The Bullitt County Genealogical Society has returned to its regular meetings.
